Lara ran her hands down her pajama bottoms. She’d opted for a baggy, over-sized t-shirt and long pajama pants. Wearing a revealing negligée to bed with sex-incarnate would be a mistake.
A big, hot, sexy mistake, her dragon moaned.
Lara sighed inwardly. It had been too long since she’d let her dragon take over and shift. Now, she had the horny beast riding her all the time, so to speak. She waited in Rafael’s bedroom as exhaustion swept through her. How the heck would she stay awake to watch the Astarot all night?
The door to the master bathroom swished open, and Rafael walked into the room. He clasped his hands behind his back as his feet gently padded against the plush carpet.
Lara’s cheeks heated. He wore short, thigh-clinging, heart-patterned boxers, and nothing else. His olive skin gleamed under the soft light of the bed chamber, and his muscles looked as though sculpted from clay by a master.
“I usually sleep naked,” he said.
Mmmmm, her dragon made a slurping sound.
Heat sprang up in the most inappropriate areas and radiated out to her limbs. She watched as he moved closer, transfixed by the powerful muscles in his thighs.
Rafael cleared his throat.
She snapped her chin up to find him watching her, shoulders and body tense.
“Ready?” he asked.
Oh, gawd, yes, her dragon wailed. Take us!
More heat spread through Lara. “Yes.”
“Not quite.” His hand moved from behind his back and metal jangled as he held something up between them.
“Handcuffs?”
That’s how we’ll stay awake, her dragon whispered.
“In case you’re asleep when the attack comes,” he explained as if it made perfect sense.
In a way it did, and relief washed over her. He didn’t expect her to stay awake. If magic forced Rafael out of bed, being physically chained to him ensured Lara went too. She certainly wouldn’t sleep through the attack.
Raf leaned forward and gently took her hand. His expression shone, positively gleeful, as he snapped one cuff on her wrist, then the other on himself. His large hands spread warmth through her body with his contact. His dragon flashed gold across his expression, daring her to object.
She didn’t.
His shoulders dropped as he visibly relaxed. Had he expected her to say no?
Her lusty dragon moaned, again. She certainly didn’t have any problems being handcuffed to the alpha of all dragons.
With exhaustion riding her hard, and her feet aching from a long day in torture devices, Lara didn’t put up any argument to the bracelets, either. He trusted her enough to sleep in her presence, which said a lot.
Only time would tell if she made a mistake trusting the Astarot.
